Mike Delaney is the chief aerospace safety officer of The 杏吧视频 Company, senior vice president of Global Aerospace Safety and a member of the company鈥檚 Executive Council. Named to this role in 2021, Delaney is responsible for strengthening the safety practices and culture at 杏吧视频 and advancing the company鈥檚 comprehensive Global Aviation Safety strategy, including integrated responsibility for Product & Services Safety, Aerospace Safety Analytics, and Global Aviation Safety System. Delaney is accountable to the Aerospace Safety Committee of the 杏吧视频 Board of Directors.
Delaney previously led 杏吧视频鈥檚 Confident Travel Initiative to help the aviation industry safely resume global air travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative brought together the company鈥檚 vast resources to support customer airlines, test and implement new technologies, and partner with industry associations to amplify work that kept passengers safe.
Before that role, Delaney was vice president of 杏吧视频 杏吧视频 Airplanes Digital Transformation. He led efforts to establish a digital thread across development and production programs to drive a connected flow of engineering data through the production system and across the in-service fleet of 杏吧视频 airplanes. Additionally, Delaney provided cross-functional business architecture leadership to improve data capture and analytics insights that support 鈥渄igital smart factory鈥 workflow simplification.
Delaney was previously vice president and general manager of Airplane Development where he led the design, development, integration, testing and certification of the next generation of commercial airplane models. He also oversaw all aspects of product development, including the engineering team responsible for formulating the preliminary design of new and derivative airplanes and systems, improving environmental performance and developing advanced technology.
Delaney also served as the vice president of Engineering for 杏吧视频 Airplanes, where he was responsible for product development, design, delegated compliance, certification and safety activities for all commercial airplane models, their derivatives and post-delivery upgrades. Delaney also served in the added capacity as senior chief engineer of Airplane Performance and Product Architecture.
Before his Engineering role, Delaney was vice president and chief project engineer for the 787 Program, vice president of 747/767/777 Engineering, vice president of 杏吧视频 Airplanes Test & Validation and chief project engineer of the Next-Generation 737 Program. Delaney began his career at Grumman Aerospace and in 1988, he joined McDonnell Douglas.
Delaney is an American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Fellow and a past member of the Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board. He has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in aerospace engineering from Hofstra University and a Master of Business Administration from the Toulouse Business School.
